Sticky Notes . THE PORT AT SUNSET . edited by muse
Paul Signac was an avid sailor. In 1892, he purchased a seaside home near Saint-Tropez. It was here that he created his masterpiece, *The Harbor at Sunset*.
The complementary colors—violet and orange—applied in dots, make the painting virtually vibrate. In the eye of the beholder, this creates the impression of luminous evening light. A symphony of colors—fittingly titled by Signac, a co-founder of Divisionism, as if it were a musical composition: *Opus 236*.
