Impressionist masterpieces from Russia

In the late 19th century, numerous Russian artists were inspired by French impressionism. A trip to Paris was often the starting point for her interest in the movement. They too developed a preference for working outdoors and tried to paint the fleeting effects of color and light through the spontaneous and free handling of the brush. The richly illustrated catalog examines the reception of Impressionist light painting in Russian art from the 1880s to the 1920s, and shows that avant-garde painters such as Natalia Goncharova and Kazimir Malevich also started out from impressionism.
